Hi, has anybody heard about or used projectex?

I'm thinking about buying either TO3000 or projetex. The price is quite different but I think that what they offer is very different as well.

I've been looking at the freetrial version of projetex and it's seems quite good but I would like to have advice from someone who's already using it.

Thanks in advance!

Projetex May 11, 2011

Hi;
Projetex is dedicated for translation companies as it provides them with additional features like the database for freelancers and ability to use server as well as additional roles like accountant officer, passwords etc.
If you are not a company, TO3000 will meet your needs and give you brilliant and easy options.

Regards,

Tamer

Well, in fact I rule a small company. I'm the project manager and I work with about 20 or 30 free land translators so that's why I thought Projetext maybe could be better than TO3000.

I was guessing if Projetext could save me some time when doing project orders and then it would be easier to make invoices as well. Like having everything "linked together". Now we do these tings separately, so we retype unnecessarily and repeat tasks.

Do you know the main differences between both programs?

I wouldn't like to buy TO3000 and then after a few months realize that what I needed is Projetex or the other way round...

Thankyou!

and I find it is a very good tool indeed but at this stage, as my business is growing, I have the feeling it may be time for me to switch to a more sophisticated translation workflow management system.

I have attended a few demos on Plunet (www.plunet.de) and XTRF (www.xtrf.eu) for example. As far as I can see, even though I have to admit I really need to investigate these systems further, these tools seem to automate a lot more of the time consuming tasks in the process in that they are accessible from any web browser (thus making them available both on PC and Mac operating systems), they store and arrange documents on your server, they allow you, your client or your freelancer to log on and view their project status, upload and download files etc., send standardized emails for invoicing, payment delays, view your freelancers' availability based on their current workload and more.

Of course these systems are more expensive than Projetex but they are indeed something different. What worries me most in this case is data security. They claim they use a secure protocol for these connections and that the documents are safe and protected from unauthorized access if your system administrator is good enough to guarantee for the security of your whole system but I still have to find out more details about this. For the same reason, I would not opt for the software-as-a-service license that implies all of your data are stored and hosted on the software manufacturers' servers.

So I cannot really take responsibility to recommend these tools at this stage, just pointing you to them should you find that they are suitable for your needs.

Difference between Projetex and TO3000 Jun 21, 2011

Dear Quiddity,

Translation Office 3000 has been designed mostly for freelance translators. Therefore it does not have special features to organize workflow with your freelance and in-house translators.

Dear Quiddity,

Translation Office 3000 has been designed mostly for freelance translators. Therefore it does not have special features to organize workflow with your freelance and in-house translators.

Projetex has been created especially for translation agencies. Therefore it can help you to manage all your freelance and in-house translators, assign jobs to translators, automatically generate PO, JAs as well as invoices to clients, track all payments, view balances and schedules.

Also I would like to notice that TO3000 can work only locally, but Projetex has client-server structure. Therefore you can use a number of concurrently running copies of the program which can connect to a single Projetex database. Projetex can work via LAN and Internet. Thus you can connect to Projetex Server from any place over the world. So, for management of translation agencies we would like to suggest you Projetex.

Monica wrote about advantages and disadvantages of SaaS systems. And she wrote that she cannot opt for the software-as-a-service license, because all data in such software are stored and hosted on the software manufacturers' servers. With Projetex you will not have such problem. All Projetex data is stored on your own server and it has two security levels:

1. Each Projetex Workstation can connect to Projetex Server only if it has been activated by a serial number which corresponds to Projetex Server’s serial number.

2. Every user should input login and password to access Projetex database.

Also you can increase security, allowing connection only for computers with particular IP or MAC addresses.

I would like to notice that you may participate in online presentation of Projetex. Our specialist will show you all possibilities of Projetex, help you to understand the logic of Projetex functioning and answer on all your questions. You can request the presentation on our official web-site http://projetex.com/translation-management-technology-free-presentation/?view=rsform

Dear Monica, I would like to notice that you can run Projetex under all non-Windows platform (like Mac OS, Linux, Unix, etc.) using virtual machine software. The latest version of Projetex – Projetex 8 supports all common virtual machine software.

Best regards,
Aleksandr.
