Discussion

Alison Gaunt Mar 29, 2018:
"microbially-mediated soil aggregation". This is a naturally occurring process, often confused with Lebendbau which is a "human" process = soil bioengineering or bio-mediated soil improvement. Lebendverbauung is often harnessed for use by techniques of soil improvement.
Herbmione Granger Mar 28, 2018:
Tibor A sentence or phrase in which this word appears would be helpful to us. There seems to be at least one other usage of "Lebendverbauung."

Tibor Pataki Mar 28, 2018:
tja, auf Ungarisch könnte das 'talajélesztés' lauten, man sollte diese Frage aber lieber in der Richtung Deutsch-Ungarisch stellen...
Herbmione Granger Mar 28, 2018:
Hi Phil Tibor did mention the context of Bodenleben. The *actual text* in which the term appears would be nice, but not necessarily more helpful.

Hello Please could we have the context as requested when you posted the question.
Herbmione Granger Mar 28, 2018:
Hi Tibor This might be difficult to translate into Hungarian.
Avoid any reference to biomedical engineering or engineering focused only on employing microorganisms.
Possible description: the deliberate (and intelligent) planting of vegetation to promote soil integrity.
You might be able to find a short equivalent in the context of the BORASSUS project.

soil bioengineering

Or application of soil bioengineering techniques

Soil bioengineering (SB) uses live plant materials to provide erosion control, slope and stream bank stabilization, landscape restoration, and wildlife habitat. These techniques are used alone or in conjunction with conventional engineering techniques.

Die praktische Umsetzung ingenieurbiologischer Erkenntnisse wird als Lebendbau oder Lebendverbau (auch Grünverbau) bezeichnet.

The 'stabilisation of soil structure through establishment of vegetation' should work for both the natural and the anthropogenic process.

The paper also shows that the contents of soil bioengineering are not related to the mere use of vegetation for stabilising purposes, but they focus on broader environmental concerns.

Lebendverbauung
