Deutsch term

Any good way come to mind to cover what I understand as two points here: I (officially) request you answer me, and I look forward to your esteemed response...?
...and does "esteemed" sound ridiculous?

ridiculous ...

Yes, I would say it does sound rather over the top. I'd write something like (depending on how over the top you need to go on this)

"Please (be so kind as to) [briefly] confirm receipt of this [letter], and I look forward to receiving your response.

Best regards,

xxx"

Actually, it isn't specifically requesting confirmation (my bad), so I think you could get away with a simple "I look forward to receiving your response/hearing from you."

Thanks, Andrea
agree Olga Cartlidge : True. But I would try to stick to the original : in a legal context Mit der Bitte um Kenntnisnahme means "please take note" so it may be of relevance here as well . http://www.dict.cc/?s=Kenntnisnahm (Re : "Please (be so kind as to) read this etc

Thanks, Olga, but it doesn't really make sense to write "please read this letter" at the end of a letter, does it?

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks, I went with just a normal closing as you suggested."

I invite you to note the foregoing and look forward to your reply.

Then "Y.s,"

And personally, I wouldn't use esteemed - it does sound odd...
