Deutsch term

Fortschreibung

Deutsch > Englisch Technik Mathematik und Statistik statistics / software
Test spec for statistical energy management software again. "Lastgang" is "load profile" here, ie. peaks and troughs in energy demand.

But is "Fortschreibung" updating or extrapolation here? Here's a hefty chunk all from the same test page.

Further comments soughts Any statisticians out there can confirm whether it's "extrapolation"?

extrapolation

From your context here, I would go with extrapolation more than update because you are testing the software. My thought would be that updating requires data INPUT but is sounds like you are using this to update the Lastgang as output.

My thought.
Peer comment(s):

agree tectranslate ITS GmbH : in the prognosis context, extrapolation makes sense. My confidence level is only "Medium", tho.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you all - I really needed confirmation as it had been translated as "updating" for the client by someone else, but the context showed my "extrap..." was definitely right."

[Fortschreibung is sometimes also translated as "updating", but you were asking for a term used in statistics.]
Good luck!!
