Primär schubförmige MS

Medizin (allgemein)
I have medical summary for a patient with a diagnosis of "Primär schubförmige MS".
I have looked up the various types of MS, and this phrasing doesn't seem to exactly match any of the three common types.
I believe the patient has the "relapsing-remitting" form, but what is the "Primär" adding to the diagnosis?
The MS has been diagnosed for 10 years, patient was admitted due to a suspected relapse, but MRI showed no new lesions and no progression of existing lesions.
What would the best translation be?

multiple sclerosis (MS), primarily of the relapsing-remitting type
You're right regarding 'relapsing-remitting' - see http://www.msundich.de/fuer-patienten/ms-wissen/verlaufsform...
I suspect that other types have not yet been excluded completely, hence the qualifier 'primär'.

Comment: "There seems to be a slight disagreement as to whether "primary" should feature in the answer, but I agree that this is what the doctor probably means, and so I prefer the more descriptive approach.
Thanks."

Primary relapsing-remitting MS
I agree this does not fit into commonly used MS nomenclature, but I guess the 'primary' implies that the disease process has been relapsing right from the start. The secondary, progressive form often follows initial ( and therefore primary?) relapsing-remitting disease.

: Might as well be possible.

: Not the classical, standard classification, but if the source text adds "primär", then the translation should add "primary" – whatever the reporting physician wanted (or not) to indicate with this term

Reference:
relapsing remitting MS versus primary progressive MS
Multiple Sklerose
Es wird zwischen mehreren Verlaufsformen unterschieden:
schubförmig remittierende MS (90% der Patienten)
chronisch progrediente MS
sekundär progrediente MS
fulminant verlaufende MS (selten)
http://flexikon.doccheck.com/de/Multiple_Sklerose
In relapsing remitting MS, people have distinct attacks of symptoms which then fade away either partially or completely. Around 85 per cent of people with MS are diagnosed with this type.
Many people with relapsing remitting MS go on to have secondary progressive MS. It means they have a sustained build-up of disability, completely independent of any relapses.
Primary progressive MS affects about 10 to 15 per cent of people diagnosed with MS. Symptoms gradually get worse over time, rather than appearing as sudden attacks (relapses).
