Deutsch term

K.T.K.A.

Deutsch > Englisch Sonstige Militär/Verteidigung battlefield signals WWI
Evening all,
Here we have a carrier pigeon message sent from a Western Front battlefield in October 1916.
"From: K.T.K.A. 25th Reserve Division"
and later in the same message
"The K.T.K. has only...in reserve"

Much appreciated as always

agree John Hayward : You're right! I've just finished a mamoth translation ref. similar theme on WW2. Kim's explanation is good, although I used the term Combat Group

Kampftruppenkommandeur

I don't know what the A stands for, but KTK is Kampftruppenkommandeur. Sometimes it is used to refer to the commander himself and sometimes to the unit. I think a Kampftruppe is a combat platoon.

A Kampftruppe is not a regular military unit like a platoon or company. It\'s a unit formed for the specific purpose of assaulting a position. So I wouldn\'t use platoon. Maybe assault force commander would be best.

\"Adjutant - a staff officer in charge of and responsible for administrative functions within the unit, including correspondence.\"

If it is an assault force, as I believe it is, I doubt they would have time for writing letters.
