My heart lies in legal and medical translations. I love getting stuck into difficult texts!
After receiving my degree in English literature from the University of Groningen in 1996 and doing an extra post-doctoral MA in Belfast, I worked for two publishing houses as project manager and editor. I already did some translation work on the side, and when it all became too much, I quit my job and started my own company, Babylonia Vertalingen, in 2000.
I work for publishing houses, production companies, businesses and private individuals.
In 2008, I was sworn in as a translator, which enables me to offer companies the service of translating legal documents from and into Dutch and English. I recently qualified as an interpreter Dutch <-> English, and in addition to sworn legal interpreting jobs, also do social and medical interpreting in that language combination and in combination with Frisian.
Besides being a translator, I am also a dedicated mother of 2 teens, and an avid knitter and spinner. In my spare time, if I have any, I translate Dutch plays into Frisian, cycle around Friesland and work in my garden.
