This forum topic is for the discussion of the poll question "How often do you engage in networking activities to connect with potential clients or colleagues?".
Does networking necessarily mean looking for potential customers? I do interact with other colleagues almost every day without having potential clients in mind…

You need time for networking and I don't have that time. I guess this also means that my need for networking is inexistant.

I hardly ever network, the use of that word as a verb fills me with dread. If I do go to a place where networking is to be engaged in, I have to psyche myself up to it first. Then vegetate for a good while afterwards until I recover, because it's exhausting.

I don't know if it's just me, but my direct association when I hear "networking" is the weird (actually completely alien) toxically positive LinkedIn crowd. I would not be comfortable among people of this kind. I don't even visit industry events, although tekom is practically just around the corner from me, mainly because I actually have work to do. ▲ Collapse
