Guten Morgen liebe Kollegen und Kolleginnen,

kennt jemand von euch die Zertifizierung für freiberufliche Übersetzer des IQCs? Ein Kunde hat mir vorgeschlagen, diese Zertifizierung zu bekommen, aber ich kenne sie nicht und wollte wissen ob es sich lohnt.

Well, the English on their website contains a number of usage errors, which should tell you about the level of commitment to quality which the "certification" embodies.

As far as I can see, all they do is issue a certificate of your own statement that you will abide the provisions of the ISO translation standard. I certainly don't need to pay anyone to certify my own statements - I can just make them whenever I want!

Offhand, I'd say it looks like just another expensive self-certification scheme.

The German version is unprofessional as well.

Same issue Feb 23, 2015

One of my clients - one whom I highly trust and have a great relationship with - also sent me an email saying that they recommend I pay for the certification.

However, having looked at the level of English on the site alone, I began to have my doubts. Obviously I will continue working with my client, but I will decline this type of certification.
