I get some request to translate image files (.jpg, .tif, etc) and until now I have been subcontracting the work but I would like to purchase the appropriate software to be able to modify the text in these files. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Ricardo

For text in Photoshop... | Jul 23, 2004 |
there is a free tool called Rainbow www.opentag.com/rwstools.htm never try/need it till now. But that is for PSD files (with text layers inside), if you have a jpeg.I think the only way to do it is to use a OCR program like Finereader. Saludos

Most of what I get, though, are jpg and tif formats, and OCR is not an option because the client wants an exact replica of the graphics, but translated. Regards, Ricardo
As many programs as possible | Jul 23, 2004 |
I have about a dozen of programs to edit and/or create graphics, and each one has its peculiar advantages and disadvantages. So I recommend a big toolbox to do the work as quickly, well and comfortably as possible. 8)

As free tool for image editing | Jul 23, 2004 |
I recommend "Gimp" (http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/) I think is the best free program and not so far away from the best and expensives programs like PS etc. Enough to do what you want. But think that a jpg file ist just a compressed file and there is NO text inside. So you have to retouch not to translate Ricardo Martinez de la Torre wrote: Harry_B wrote: I have about a dozen of programs to edit and/or create graphics, and each one has its peculiar advantages and disadvantages. Kevin Fulton United States Local time: 12:50 German to English PaintShop Pro | Jul 23, 2004 |
I've been using PaintShop Pro for a number of years and haven't needed to buy anything else, apart from one package for a very specific job. It's cheaper than Adobe Illustrator or comparable Corel products. It's not a very "buggy" program, but free updates are available for download every so often. You can download a free trial version here http://www.jasc.com/products/? Kevin
