Weitere Möglichkeit Denkbar wäre auch, dass es sich um die Bitte handelt, nicht nach dem Warum zu fragen. Die Anführungsstriche wären natürlich in beiden Fällen nicht ganz richtig.

@Asker: Handelt es sich den tatsächlich um einen Dialog? Oder wird der obige Text von nur einer Person gesprochen? Und stammt der Satz mit dem „there's no why“ von dem/der Betrogenen oder dem/der Betrüger(in)?

there is no why, just is. Or just because. There is no reason, no explanation, it's a mystery, it's just the way things are. This used to be a common phrase in soap opera dialogues in the 70s and 80s.

Die Anführungsstriche sind so richtig. Und über das "No way", habe ich den Kunden fegragt. Also denke ich wie Bernhard. Mehr Kontext habe ich leider nicht.

@Johanna Based on the limited context, I took it as referring to a question we don't see here, some question about something a person asked that made no sense or was upsetting or refers to a complicated situation for which there is no (clear or easy) answer, possibly also containing the question word "why." But maybe the poster can give us more info and check the punctuation (quotation marks use). :)

things are the way they are they're complicated. Asking why isn't going to help. There is no particular explanation, no clear reason, no "why."

But this is a dialogue. It would help a) to have the names and b) more context.

From the tenor of the dialogue, I think it could well be something like this.

Oder - es ist eben so, basta! Depending on the mood of the speaker, which, IMO, is quite emotional.

What we are looking for here is the spoken word.

I doubt very much that anyone would say "Dafür gibt es keinen Anlaß" an an emotional exchange, though "Es gibt kein warum" could work, but with an explanation mark to indicate that it is a retort rather than a simple answer.

Ja ich stimme mit ihm überein. Ich denke es ist die Rückfrage des Gesprächspartners, ob es wirklich keinen Grund gibt. Wenn man wiüsste, was er gemacht hat, würde ich eventuell sagen: Und du weißt nicht, warum?
