Hi Marion, I'm not a specialist in Berufsschulen, but I'm very interested in the German education system. Maybe this information will help. Based on the description given below, it appears that students in Berufsschulen receive both a general education and "special theoretical and practical education in one particular career area." I don't know this for sure, but I think Fachkunde involves studies in the career the student has chosen. Can you tell from the transcript you are translating what career the student specialized in?

Berufsschulen equip their pupils with basic and specialised vocational training, adding to the general education they have already received. A suggetsion. Actually, I agree with Ronat's comments but this is what I have used on a few occasions. If possible, the actually field of study should be used.

Damit wird dann genau ausgedrückt, daß es sich um ein Fach handelt, das mitdem zukünftigen Beruf zu tun hat. Kann auch, wie schon Kim erklärte durch die Berufsbezeichnung ersetzt werden, z.B. Skills specific to auto mechanics/Automechanical skills/training.
