I think fehlendes Vorlesen here means lack of reading out something loud, a novel, book, etc. in front of people, where if one makes a mistake reading a certain word, this would lead to a result of worse or incorrect pronunciation, since nobody has corrected the subject's reading abilities.

: I think you'd have to rephrase this to make it flow - something like "because parents don't read aloud to their children the children don't learn to pronounce properly". Rather clumsy though - !
