Prosopographie

Context: ‘Zugrundegelegt sind Fragebögen von 1936 über Parteimitgliedschaft; die Ergebnisse zur Prosopography der Akademiemitglieder liegen noch nicht vor’.
It has got something to do with political profile. However, I could neither trace the German nor the probable English equivalent of prosopography.

personality and personal history analysis

From Greek pro_sapon 'face' and >-grafi):
Historic discipline, which tries to analyse and understand the devolpment of a society by studying the members of the 'ruling class', their political careers, marriage plans etc.
The method was developped in Germany around 1900, above all through Friedrich Münzers' studies of Roman nobility, but has later gained access into post-antique historic research.
