I am so totally bored with contract translation that I feel a need to write pointlessly about something totally off-topic...
My love of stationery!
Ever since I was a child, when before every new school term I would buy brand new pencils, pens, rulers etc and place them lovingly in a new pencil case and display them proudly on my desk on the first day of term, I have loved stationery.

My love of stationery!
Ever since I was a child, when before every new school term I would buy brand new pencils, pens, rulers etc and place them lovingly in a new pencil case and display them proudly on my desk on the first day of term, I have loved stationery.
Just this weekend, when browsing the station shops waiting for a train, I popped into a card shop and felt an uncontrollable desire to buy their beautifully covered notebooks, pencil holders, desk tidies, stationery sets, patterned notepaper, pens, markers...
But it doesn't even have to be designer, colourful stuff. The simple purchase of a brand-new pristeen eraser will satisfy me, and I have to remind myself that I do not need more paperclips, staplers, post-it notes, highlighters (even those really cute little mini ones) or ring-binders.
And wild horses can't restrain me when i walk through the Ikea storage-box section - so many colours, sizes, stackable, collapsible, coordinating, calling out my name...

I am also bored with the translation of a book about business contracts:)
And the other common point is also my passion about stationery.
I still buy notebooks with colorful pages, post-it notes and many pencils and always find a way to use them.
I can not write my poems on a word document which is too mechanic and plain. using a pencil and a piece of paper makes it a more unique experience... It has its own style...

Wendy, we're exactly the same!
I'm particularly addicted to notebooks and blank books. And it's especially good to be in Europe where I can get cool fountain pens to my heart's content... Organizers/calendars are another obsession (maybe goes along with the search for the perfect purse) - my calendar search each year takes ages. I'm very particular about personal organizers/calendars, and the cover, features, calendar style, layout, everything has to be just right.

Fortunately, I now get to shop for my kids' school supplies!
When you were younger, did you also like stickers? I still love printing out my own creative address labels. ▲ Collapse | | | Wendy Cummings Vereinigtes Königreich Local time: 08:23 Spanisch > Englisch + ... THEMENSTARTER making a mark | Jun 25, 2009 |
Is there anything better than writing that first word on the first page of a clean blank unfilled notebook!

Office Max, moleskin, origami | Jun 25, 2009 |
Although I've given up the paper calendar in favor of an electronic organizer (best decision of my life), I definitely share your enthusiasm. Letter sets, envelopes, post-its, sticky tabs, moleskin notebooks. Whenever I'm back in the US, I spend literally *hours* at Office Max and the like. I have a major weakness for handmade envelopes and paper - here they're often sold as "Tibet" products - and I'm always looking for origami paper. | | | Amy Duncan (X) Brasilien Local time: 04:23 Portugiesisch > Englisch + ... Also, when I was in Florence in April I went nearly mad buying cards, stationary, notebooks in all sizes, even initial stamps...

Lots of interesting stuff - ye olde days of letter writing - deckle edge? Onion skin? Tissue-lined envelopes? Does anyone else hate flipped-up edge paperclips (what's wrong with flat ones)? | | | Taylor Kirk Vereinigte Staaten Local time: 02:23 Portugiesisch > Englisch + ... I have a ton of beautiful stationery, but don't use it often. When I'm abroad I write some letters because people like to keep the stamped envelopes but most prefer emails. I need pen pals!

Also, I love the smell of fresh pencils. | | | Moleskin!Moleskin! | Jun 26, 2009 |
i don't know how many times i read the story of moleskin notebooks. There is one thing i remember well though, i never felt like kind of traveler before i had my first Moleskin. Do they still come with the history? | | | My name is Noni and I am a stationery-oholic | Jun 26, 2009 |
Although I haven't fallen off the wagon for quite some time now....
Recently I have discovered a further variation on a couple of my other fixations (reusing and recycling) which ties in with my stationery habit: we receive vast quantities of brochures/leaflets etc in the office which we have not intention of boring our clients with. So, on the advice of a colleague, I selected a number of these with plain coloured insides to their covers, removed the staples, turned them inside out, and voilà: a new set of mini folders (and a collection of broken fingernails too!).
By the way, is there an inverse relation between love of stationery and ability to keep paperwork organized?

My particular weakness is organisers/storage files.
It has got the point that, in my immediate vicinity alone (i.e. not counting things inside cupboards or the other rooms), I can count about 10 boxes/files/containers that look gorgeous but are in fact empty as I have run out of things to put in them.
I could always buy more office items to fill the void...
Wendy's motto could be, 'Stationery, but never stationary'. | | | Anke Guido Local time: 09:23 Englisch > Deutsch + ...
I think stationery in England is so much nicer than in Germany. Narrow-ruled writing-pads...sadly, we don't have them here. | | | Vom Thema belegte Seiten: [1 2] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » A love of stationery LinguaCore | AI Translation at Your Fingertips
