Does anyone know if there are any equivalent sites to ProZ for software developers? I thought I'd try to get more feet to stand on and being a software developer, I thought this might be a good place to start. I'm thinking more in terms of job postings and less in terms of forums (for which there are plenty).

You want to be a software developer and don't know that Google is your friend?
Just google software developer forum.
Sourceforge.net is pretty much the default site for publishing open source projects and asking for collaboration from others, or indeed for finding interesting open source projects to contribute to.

Thank you. I don't *want to be* a software developer. I have been an inhouse developer for several years and so I think I'm entitled to the title. What I was asking was sites like ProZ, ie sites for jobs, discussions around clients etc.
Because I have bills to pay I unfortunately don't have time to work on projects which don't pay. The hourly rate for working on open source projects like the ones on Sourceforge normally doesn't work out to much I did do this back in my student days, but because the day only has 24 hours I need to spend them wisely.
I looked briefly at eLance and this looks exactly like something for me.

Not a developer myself - just stumbled upon it once.
