Dear colleagues,
Yesterday night I was contacted by a colleague of us who is working with me on a translation job for my best client, each of us devoted to our own individual language pair Her husband was in fact the one who phoned me. Dear colleagues,
Yesterday night I was contacted by a colleague of us who is working with me on a translation job for my best client, each of us devoted to our own individual language pair Her husband was in fact the one who phoned me. He had been almost "ordered" by her to let me know that although she was being assisted by emergency doctors in a nearby hospital, she "swore" me that she would be delivering her part in time. Incredible!

But imagine my astonishment when today, through a common friend (and also an interpreter) I got to know that yesterday our colleague - my friend Polly - had been hospitalized with only a 25% breathing capacity.
Only a pair of hours ago, I got more news: She is to stay in hospital until she recovers to 75% breathing capacity at least - she is now breathing at a 50% breathing capacity, though she says she is "fine" and what is absolutely incredible from her is that she is in bed there translating (please believe your eyes: I've written "translating") because she should be delivering her own part by Friday, and because she is so responsible that one could take her for "nut", and finally, because she is working for "my" client.

I know that most of you, if not all, work day and night to meet deadlines, that you can spend nights looking for better terminology, for accuracy; but being myself a hard worker too, I have been "touchée" so deeply by her strong commitment, and knowing that she is far from her own land (Brazil), an idea has just crossed my mind and here I am asking you please to send her a pair of words to wish her a swift recovery and anything else you may want to express to: [email protected]

I am not sure if she has already finished building her profile at Proz.com, but what I am certain is that while she is waiting for her discharge, she is representing all of us there counting hours to go back home “while translating”.
Polly has been facing hard times these days, but she’s never lost her enthusiasm and strong commitment to meet “my best client’s deadline”.
Thank you all a lot for reading these lines, and I really hope you can spare some time to write a pair of cheer-up words to Polly either in Brazilian, Spanish or English.
Warmest regards,
McNohara (Marisa)
