A great chance to participate in daring and global scientific projects, donate your computer power for data processing and contribute your mite to the ever-expanding human knowledge:
I've already joined SETI and Einstein Projects, but there are also many others, equally fascinating and fantastic.

The `Climate' Project is really resource-consuming, but anyway you are in control of everything. In every project listed you may edit your preferences and select the parameters which suit you. For example, by default, most projects consume 75% of your processor and virtual memory, as well as a considerable GBs at your hard disk, but you may state "No more than..." for each of the listed above, you may set the time of your inactivity after which the computing procedures starts, etc., etc. Everything may be customized, and it takes just a couple of minutes.
Btw, I've tried `Climate Modelling' too, and it takes so much time that resigned from it. It must be fascinating, but my 'puter just not as good for it, so I selected SETI and recently started `Einstein'.

Sadly I am using a laptop for the time being and my other computer does not have internet connection so I can not join now, but maybe some of my friends can. ▲ Collapse
