I stopped watching after Rocky II.
Denzel is gorgeous. I once saw a Reader's Digest article about a study on faces that babies will look at longer, and his photo was at the top. They did a diagram showing that it's perfectly symmetrical. The man can act, too. But he's weak in comedy, whereas:
Johnny Depp can play absolutely anything. Chocolat, Pirates of the Caribbean, Edward Scissorhands, Benny and Joon, etc. forever. Never seen him? Start with Benny and Joon.
Actor I'd love to hate but can't: Sean Penn.
Two very popular actors that I've never been able to stand: Tom Cruise and Kevin Costner.
I love all the other Kevins--Kline, Bacon, Spacey, Pollack, Smith.
Oh, and Will Smith!!
Judi Dench, Helen Mirren, Maggie Smith, Sandra Bullock.
I will stop. Now. Not another name.

now that's hilarious!
he's my favourite actor, i love him as a man (and who does not?) and as an actor. I actually thinks he is so much expressive, he can play very odd characters like in sleepy hollow od edward's scissorhands, and very dramatic and serious ones (jack the ripper..donny brasco)..

I almost forgot.....one of my fave Italian actresses is Asia Argento.......very beautiful lady (unlike daddy) and daddy seems to have taught her the "fine art" of acting because she is now in L.A. working in one of George Romero's horror flicks.

Rob..Asia Argento proprio no! She's pretty faced, very strong personality but..she just can't speak!!! it makes me nervous every time i see her on tv, maybe on an interview, and she just won't open that mouth..plus she has such a strong Rome accent.
Sorry Rob..but saying she's a good actress it is just like saying Monica Bellucci is funny and talented.
nope nope nope...
Sorry about that..Still love your posts
fra
ps. so right..unlike her daddy!!! gosh, he's scary!

I totally agree with Francesca: Asia Argento is pretty skanky, let me tell ya. She and her father are quite disturbing....

yep, I definitely do agree with francesca ... I cannot stand Asia Argento, she's not beautiful and she's not a good actress... AND Monica Bellucci is not funni nor talented indeed... oh my...
getting back to my favourite actors, among men I'd definitely say:
- Edward Norton (I loved him in EVERY SINGLE MOVIE he was in...starting from "American History X" - a punch in your stomach but a wonderful movie)
- Kevin Spacey (oh my God ... unforgettable in "The Usual Suspects" and in "The life of David Gale"- did anyone mention it before?? Great movie)
- No need to mention ... Johnny Depp... he's so gorgeous and talented (loved him in "Chocolat" , "Donnie Brasco" and "The pirates of the caribbean"
and I would also add, in random order,
Jude Law (OH MY GOSH, did you see him in "The talented Mr. Ripley"???),
George Clooney (I love him since ER times),
Ewan McGregor (seeing him naked in "The pillow Book" really upset my teenage years...the movie itself is not memorable, but Ewan is )...
and undoubtedly many many others I now forget...
Among women I'd say Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Judi Dench, Gwyneth Paltrow, Salma Hayek...

Loved him in The Deer Hunter!
Also: Johnny Depp, Al Pacino, Sean Penn.
Don't like: Tom Hanks. There's nothing special about him.
Women? I like Cameron Diaz...maybe not a particularly good actress, but she is really nice to look at, she has such a happy face.
Sharon Stone, Kirsten Dunst.

Eat your heart out. I used to meet him in the local delicatessen in North London, buying sausages, olives and cheeses, and yes, he was a real gentleman, and just as charming and funny as in the movies.
But he was an English Shakespearean actor!

There are few "real" Americans like Mr. Price...perhaps one of the only American actors with a 'Shakespearian' culture.
Lucky you.

Thanks, you are right!
He certainly fooled me.
Of course he was living in London and he was a great gourmet and cook as well, that's why he used to come to this very special "continental" delicatessen, Panzer.

Yes, he fooled me too when I saw him act for the first time in the original "The Fly". I remember looking at Edison's face and Price's face and thinking "well, that actor with the moustache certainly doesn't look American". Later, I got hooked to his acting, saw most of his movies and thoroughly read all I could on his background. AWESOME actor indeed...and not only in horror movies.

Just come across this thread.
Great actors:
Javier Bardem (The Dancer Upstairs, Mar Adentro, Los Lunes al Sol, Jamón Jamón etc, etc. Hard to believe it's the same guy.)
Kevin Spacey
Al Pacino (funnily enough I didn't like Scent of a Woman that much. He should have got an Oscar for Godfather II)
Gael Garcia Bernal (great in Amores Perros)
Leonardo Di Caprio (brilliant in The Aviator and The Departed)
Bill Murray
Sean Penn
Jeff Bridge... See more Just come across this thread.

Jeff Bridges (rarely seen him in a bad film). Ditto Tom Hanks.
William H Macy (brilliant as the loser car salesman in Fargo and the racing correspondent in Seabiscuit)
Among the Brits: Timothy Spall, Alan Rickman, Jim Broadbent, Tom Wilkinson, Bob Hoskins, Nigel Hawthorne and Michael Caine ("You're a big man but you're in bad shape. With me it's a full-time job. Now behave yourself").
Frances McDowell
Helen Mirren
Can't stand Dame Judy though. I wish they'd stop nominating her for Oscars - she's been going through the motions for years.
Cate Blanchett - strangely irritating.
As for Brad Pitt, Jude Law and Jo-Lo - no no and no. ▲ Collapse | | | lingomania Local time: 10:16 Italienisch > Englisch THEMENSTARTER
Three facts to be correct: Jennifer Lopez DOESN'T know how to sing, she DOIESN'T know how to act and IS 100% NOT nice.
