Dear colleagues,
Yesterday, something weird happened to my machine.
I was working during all the afternoon, and in the evening, I suddenly lost my Wi-Fi network. The computer simply didn't recognise my network and didn't even show it on the network Wi-Fi list.

Yesterday, something weird happened to my machine.

I followed all the steps to try to solve the problem and I predicted the worst: a hardware problem.
Then, I registered my HP machine on HP website using my laptop and after this action, the network appeared on my All-in-One computer (a coincidence?).
I believe it was an update to Realtek network adapter, I don't know, this was very strange.
Wi-Fi is apparently fixed and I can open other programs, but I can't open Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. It is as if they don't exist.
I went to check the updates and updated the system to Windows 10, version 2004, in order to check if it was causing this issue. I did this, because I have this version installed on my laptop and I haven't had any problems yet.
Even with this update, these two web browsers simply don't open/work.
Has anyone experienced this problem before in order to help me? What can be causing this weird behaviour?
Anyway. tomorrow I will give a call to HP assistants. Let's see...
Thanks a lot!

Hello,
I didn't have exactly the same problem, (Ethernet connection) but yesterday, indeed, Edge stopped working, as if it wasn't there anymore (I don't use Chrome and can't answer about it). PC Desktop, Windows 10, 2004, up to date. The only solution was to uninstall Edge (while keeping my settings) and reinstall it. No other problem since then. Not the slightest explanation for this strange phenomenon, but then I'm not sure if the network adapter is to blame. | | | Lost my WiFi | Oct 18, 2020 |
I lost my WiFi a couple of days ago after Windows updates. It is not the first time this has happened, and the problem usually goes away if I restart the laptop...but this time nothing worked for me although I tried all of the usual recommended solutions. In the end, I was able to make use of a wireless USB adapter, and this at least restored my connection although I did not get to the root of the problem. Thank you for your answers.
HP has a Support Assistant application. I have run the "Diagnostics and Corrections" function, restarted the computer, and Chrome is right now working.
Edge is still not opening, and I am not a great fan of Chrome.
I hope I can bring any news and in particular the reasons that led to this problem. | |

There was a largish Windows 10 update recently. It installed on my PC last Friday. Chrome wouldn't open on my PC yesterday, but restarting the PC solved the problem and I can now use Chrome as usual. Perhaps the update is the reason why the Chrome issue happened?
I do not use Edge. | | | expressisverbis Portugal Local time: 07:22 Mitglied (2015) Englisch > Portugiesisch + ... THEMENSTARTER HP confirmed it today | Oct 19, 2020 |
Windows 10, version 2004 update can cause certain devices malfunction, and it was the case with the network adapter.
It seems my machine was getting back to normal gradually. It did not like to be in a rush to get to work.
Today, while I was on the phone with the HP assistant and explaining her my issue on Microsoft Edge, the browser opened in the blink of an eye...
