Hi all, I want to start in DTP(expecially layout), website translation and Trados. With zero experience in DTP except Power Point, I seek help from colleagues with expertise in these areas. 1. What do you think is best and most sought after(by outsourcers) layout software? I did a little research of my own into InDesign, PageMaker, FrameMaker and Quark. But, as a novice, I am afraid I have to invest much time to get used to it. 2. Is it difficult to learn how to use Illustrator on PC? I like to start DTP and layout with just smallest number of most useful softwares only. CS3 have them all but too pricey for me. How about InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop? 3. For website translation and file conversion(XTML, XML, etc), do you think Trados is enough? 4. What would be average charge for translation requiring layout/DTP and for website translation with software like Trados or Systran? Compared with regular word assignment. Adobe products are available in Korean and Trados supports Korean too. I like to know choice of softwares, ease of use and how much I can expect with such tools. TIA. As for Cat tools I can only tell you my experience with Trados, which I have used for about a year and a half, but I swear to you, I wouldn't work without it anymore! This also has a learning curve, but is intuitive to begin with. Once you have been using it for a little while, you may want... This also has a learning curve, but is intuitive to begin with. Once you have been using it for a little while, you may want to follow a seminar that will give you more insight on its (many) functions. Hope this helps! Lina
