Hello all,

I noticed that some outsourcers keep posting the same job over and over. You can tell they are duplicates solely from the wording. Such offers are posted with an interval ranging from a few weeks to just mere hours.

So… why are they doing this?

I have the same question, and I thought that they probably didn't find what they were looking for.

Jobs closed, then reposted Dec 9

I've often wondered about this. Are the initial miserable offered rates too high, attracting a deluge of responses?

CV harvesting Dec 9

They want to populate their database and the job’s probably not real. Also hoping to get lower and lower offers.

This isn't just in translation field, I've seen job posts on general website for jobs, labor jobs, office jobs...
And those job posts I swear I see them like 3 years so far from the same companies. They keep posting on random intervals, over and over again.
They probably already have someone on that job position and they are trying to find replacement probably for lower salary when the contract will expire.

Advertising Dec 9

These are the platforms with very high traffic and visibility, like job placement and recruitment sites. Some companies do it just as a free marketing tool to put their name out there, as the algorithm will launch their name into into the Internet. They don’t care about wasting people’s time at all. Anything goes on the Internet.

I'm suspecting the same. This looks to be the most efficient way to harvest our CVs.

Can ProZ please just implement what Christine had suggested? We could at least warn the others to not waste their valuable time with such offers.

Well, then they could be included in the yellow board of time-wasters proposed by @Christine [https://www.proz.com/forum/business_issues/370694-could_we_have_a_yellow_board_for_rating_time_waster_agencies.html], if they just want to populate their DB without having real jobs.

The working conditions and the wages are so miserable that people who applied for the job quit voluntarily after a few weeks or months because they can't take it anymore.

Actually, I did this a couple of times with labor jobs as warehouse worker, where they want you to pick goods tons+ per day without EPT and all that for minimal wage.

It is a revolving door of translators Dec 14

I know a few companies in the real sector who post vacancies for very important positions very often, on a regular basis. A single weirdo at the top creates a fractal, like we can see in some countries. Normal people cannot work there for a very long time, because it's a creative job, they quit or, more often, disobey some idiotic new requirement and get sacked. The revolving doors continue to turn, I look at them in amazement for quite a while, over 5 years now.
Also, an HR may get perks for filing a CV and conducting an interview with an ideally moronic checklist.

Such "clients" exist on Proz too, they are an insult to the site and the professional community.

I had a feeling Dec 16

I had a feeling that some of these outsourcers are trying to find the best possible translators who would accept their lowest possible rates. To pay peanuts for top quality professional work is a theoretically achievable goal, but it is one that could take a long time to achieve. That is why some outsourcers advertise for the same jobs all year around.

And they already have someone on the job, otherwise they couldn't afford to looking for someone that long. So it's like a married woman flirting with others

Cheaper, yes, but like juan have said, they are looking for top quality...
