Discussion

Ted Wozniak Sep 30, 2011:
What accounting standards? It is almost ALWAYS vital to know which accounting standards are being applied when asking terminology questions. HGB, IFRS, (and rarely these days) US-GAAP or some other local GAAP.

There are often rather subtle differences in the various standards in items that - on the surface - appear to be the same but these differences are reflected in slightly different translations of the terms in question.

group [consolidated] profit for the year

... I'd say here but am a bit uncertain because we would need to know the accounting standards applied in the case at hand (HGB? IFRS?).

... or "consolidated net profit for the year".

agree Ted Wozniak : But I would use "net income" rather than profit.

Fair enough :-)
agree RobinB : As this term is more commonly found in German IFRS financial statements than in German GAAP consolidated FS, I'd go with "consolidated profit for the period", which is standard IFRS-speak (in contrast to "net income" ... sorry Ted!)
