Deutsch term
Was Opa noch wusste,
Was Opa wusste .... und eigentlich niemanden mehr interessiert, oder?
Allgemein ums Bierbrauen, es werden "Weisheiten" beschrieben, die heute fast in Vergessenheit geraten sind, z.B. Reihenfolge beim Schroten usw.
Danke.

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

granddad, grandad, grandpa, granpa, gramps
Perhaps best avoided because of
a) the continental (UK/US) variations
b) the multiple spellings
c) the sexist Blamage of excluding grandma
Incidentally, we published this for my cousin Jimmy five years ago:

Thanks, true. I suppose good old granny wasn't really into beer brewing, though. Sexist blamage: even the revenue commissioners manage to write to me: Sehr geehrter Herr .... so what the heck. |

Einst wusste man,
Grandpa's tips....(but who cares for them today?)
Old school wisdom (but who wants to hear it?)
gramps knew better
second nature to older generations (grandma and grandpa)
"This knowledge was second nature to older generations."
http://www.pa-chimneydoctor.com/pacmd-1.pdf
Grandad knew a thing or two
Pearls of wisdom from Grandpa / Granddad
What used to be common knowledge in grandpa's times
....but got lost in the shuffle of the ages
....but is no more than a faded memory today
Things our grandparents still knew…
…. wir aber heute nur noch selten hören
Things our grandparents still knew…
… that are rarely/little heard of today
Was Opa wusste ....
...und eigentlich niemanden mehr interessiert, oder?
Things our grandparents still knew……
...that nobody seems to care about any more.

: I endorse both your translations, esp. the use of 'grandparents' instead of 'grandpa'. Interesting website, this http://distractify.com , I must say :-)

Discussion
Irgendwas mit "knowledge of previous generations" (d.h. eine Kombination aus bereits gemachten Vorschlägen) fände ich passend.
Untertitel: Was Opa wusste .... und eigentlich niemanden mehr interessiert, oder?
Are you hung on Opa, or can it be more general?
