I saw today a new job posted by Agnew Tech-II. There were already 3 bids for that job. I clicked then the \"Blue Board entry\" link and read bad comments for than company as far as payment is concerned, among which the mentioning of a bounced check.



Bad payment habits of a company is a disgrace for the translation business and an invalidation for (the work of) the professional freelance translator.

What is then the message that we, as freelancers, pass back to that company if we continue to bid? That we accept its *proven* bad payment conditions!



On the other hand, if we don\'t bid, I am sure that \"0 bids\" will be a quite strong message to this or any company that think they can play their own game, with their own rules, as gross as these may be.

You have more that engouh browniz, but even if you did not, you could gain 50 browniz by simply entering 5 terms, any five terms, into the glossaries.

is the right think to do, if someone is proven to have not exactly the best remuneration policy.



This gives the agency a chance to improve their standing and I do not know of any translator who would not accept advance payment.



In my opinion this is a very clear message and creates a \"Win-Win-Situation\" at the same time.

That\'s a good idea, Ute. However, I don\'t think it can survive in the translation business, where the standard for the freelancer payement is 30-60 (and sometimes 90!) days after the translation and an invoice are sent to the customer. Unless, if professional freelance translators as a group can start imposing their own terms. Well, I don\'t think any other place where this can have a chance, better than ProZ.com. (Henry, are you listening?)
