Hello,
I´m a Sapnish translator who has done a first time translation for a US company established in USA.
I have to invoiced them my job but I don´t know how to do it, I mean the invoice pattern.
Has somebody invoiced a translation to an US company?
I should be glad if you could help me!

With your experience ( 15 yrs) I hope you will have no difficulties in invoicing them. Your Spanish style invoice is quite valid in USA too.
Imagine, for example, you were asked to translate an invoice letter from Spanish into English. Do you think that after translation into English , the invoice would not be valid,or it would look less American type and so would be inappropiate?

Somewhere, someone does not know that translators have vast experience and they jolly well can read between the lines also.
I don\'t think there are special type invoices for USA.
Only be careful of your payments. Most probably , you do not even have a work order from them.Please be carefull. Was it a Job obtained through PROZ.?

Dear Telesforo,
As you can realize, I´m very used to invoice to Spanish and European companies, but my doubt is about how to invoice to a non European company being an European translator (a question of taxes and agreements between countries.
For this reason I have asked to the Spanish Tax Office Information Service and the answer I received is that I have to send a Certificate of Spanish Residence together with the invoice in order they don´t deduct me the related US taxes.
That´s why I asked for somebody who has ever been in the same situation.
Besides it, don´t worry whether I get this job through Proz (it doesn´t solve my question).

You may want to check out the IRS web site... it has all sorts of info on when/how taxes are paid to both residents and non residents.
I don\'t know if you\'re familiar with the W-8 form, but that would be a good start.

I have only done small jobs, and so far I have sent them Spanish invoices in Spanish format and language and no taxes were applied on either part.
