As far as I know, Robert, it's a popular saying. Somebody of course must have started it (probably a wretched husband or wife) but it's just a proverb. Maybe somebody here will know better.

Yes, but remember 95% of all popular sayings and proverbs is based on TRUTH or you might like "where there's smoke, there is BOUND to be fire" better.
