However many I need?
Mario, what sort of a question is this?
It is also like asking how much money do you keep in your pocket when translating.

I may be missing the point, but I am failing to see how such a survey can be useful to the proz.com community.
I also have a number of pens on my desk. Some red, some black, some blue. Sometimes there may even be a pencil.

Is the internet a program or not?

Word with Wordfast classic + a web browser (normally Chrome) + Outlook.
The web browser normally has 5 or 6 tabs open. The first two are always open - Proz (+ occasional forays to Facebook etc.) and a motorbike site that I administer. The others are opened as needed but then left open - a dictionary, Proz term search, Linguee and, sometimes, Google.
Other programmes/tabs are used as needed/wanted and then closed.
What do you mean with "program"?
My E-Mail program is open, SDL or memoQ if I work with a CAT-Tool, between 4 and 7 websites, including Linguee and Reverso Context and sometimes Leo and Proz and a Browser for researching, and the respective TM file for searching through older translations etc. - and of course Windows Explorer for the respective files and a PDF with the source file etc.

I'd say I average about 5. I always have Word, Outlook, and Firefox open and often Adobe and Excel as well. That's what I've got open right now, plus my Merriam-Webster's dictionary and a photo editor. And don't even ask me how many tabs I have open on Firefox!

It varies a lot | Jul 21, 2016 |
Depends on WHAT (in terms of media, files) I am translating and, if it's not merely text translation (e.g. video, DTP), the stage I am in at the time.

Wordfast isn't really a program... but I use it on most Jobs. I also have MS Word open and if I'm working in Excel, that too. Then there's Dragon NS. And I use Internet Explorer as a browser, although I prefer Chrome, but can't get it to work properly on my new PC.
How many "programs" is that? Does my antivirus count?
