I would be particularly interested in pursuing a Masters of translation with an emphasis on Spanish > English. I would like to attend such a program in a Spanish-speaking country, specifically Mexico or Argentina.
My question is: 1) what are some of the best programs/schools known for good Master in translation programs in those countries and 2) How feasible would it be for a non-native Spanish speaker to get accepted into the program? I have investigated some - specifically the Master of translation at Univ. Belgrano in Argentina and it seems to me obviously most of these programs are targeted at Spanish speaking natives translating into English. Would they let non Spanish speaking natives into the program, and would this be a good idea for me? What are the criteria for non native Spanish speakers? At the U of B and some other programs I looked at, the Masters program seemed more for someone who already had experience translating.
I need a full program that would ideally be accepting of a native English speaker, a program with a good rep, etc. Any advice would be most helpful!! ▲ Collapse

Hi maggierose,

I think it might be difficult though to find a program for English native speakers in Latin America, as programs are usually designed for Spanish speakers. It might be best to do a program designed for English native speakers. You could always go to Latin America in the summer to do intensive or specialization courses.
If you are in the US, you could consider the Monterey Institute of International Studies, considered to be one of the best in the US: http://www.miis.edu
