I've had to take out the 'Label' too because then it would give it away. It's an article about a large company's change in policy and has now gone 'green' (if that's not giving it away...). I'm confused by the 'der'. etw(akk.) verpassen, so why the 'der'? What's been missed by what?

Is "DEF-Marketing" a separate company or a department etc., and what is its relationship to ABC (e.g. neutral, rival, acrimonious)?

"jemandem etwas verpassen" means to give something to someone in a negative sense, e.g. jemandem eine Ohrfeige verpassen, jemandem einen bösen Spitznamen verpassen

my dictionary has "to land someone with something" but that sounds weird - perhaps "to inflict something on someone" would be closer.

slapped on

ABC promotes a strategy which had the GHI label slapped on by DEF Marketing.

That's calculatedly casual talk, so casual English is called for. E.g., Mr. Stoiber deserves to have a label of "waverer" slapped on him. Mr. Adenauer deserves to have the designation "outstanding statesman" assigned to him.
