The first ever powwow organized in the charming town of Tábor will take place along with the 25th Tábor Meetings medieval festival. There will be a pre-powwow starting in the afternoon hours on Friday, 16th September, which is definitely worth attending as one of the highlights of the festival, the Torchlight Parade, sets out for the main Žižka Square just after sunset.
Weather permitting, on Saturday, 17th September, a nine-kilometer walking trip to Kozí Hrádek, a nearby gothic castle ruin where the famous reformation preacher Jan Hus spent his last years before being burned on the stake in Constance (Germany), will help the participant digest all the delicious food and drinks consumed on the evening before. The weather not permitting, there will still be a lot to do and see at the festival.
In the evening of Saturday, 17th September, several restaurants and bars will be thoroughly checked for the quality of meals and beverages served.
For more information on the festival programme loaded with concerts, performances and medieval feeling please check its official website (bit.ly/1JW0sti) and excuse the poor level of English. The program for this year is expected to be announced soon.
Tábor is located on the main road from Prague to Austria which makes it easily accessible by car, train or bus.
Accomodation is available in various price ranges, starting from relatively cheap bed and breakfast options (e.g. http://bit.ly/1RQiYX1 or bit.ly/1Nhwk6i) to exquisite hotels (bit.ly/1T0fwrS or bit.ly/1T0fAI1). All accommodation facilites are located within walking distance from the centre or right in it. If there are enough interested people (up to 12), a nice, newly rebuilt apartment building with shared bedrooms (2 beds each) and bathrooms (1 for 2 bedrooms) can be arranged at a reasonable price. Please check the profile of the facility at http://bit.ly/1Je7MjH but do not book from there! Instead, please contact the powwow organizer by email for more information.
Participants arranging their stay themselves should book their accommodation well in advance as all the capacities are sold out quickly due to the festival.

Accommodation offer
Jun 8, 2016
Hello everybody,
we have a brand new option for accommodation in Tábor located just a few steps away from the main square where the bigger portion of the festival is going to take place. They have an excellent wine bar offering only specially selected natural wines and cook great meals only from local ingredients (the offer is usually very limited depending on what is currently available, but I have never eaten anything bad there).
They currently charge 1350 CZK per night (about 50 Eur) for a double room and have bigger rooms that might come cheaper in the offer, too. Instead of using their booking system which might not be running yet, you can just let me know how many of you would be potentially interested in staying there. If there are enough of you, I could possibly try to arrange a discount. Please feel free to check their Facebook profile (https://www.facebook.com/thirvinnybar/) but note that some scrolling is necessary to get to the pics of the rooms. Currently, this is one of the best places to go in Tábor. We (my translation agency) even use them when we need to feed the participants at our workshops. Their catering is just great.
So far, we have booked 8 beds there and there are still some free ones left.
As this event is quite specific being tied to the festival, it has not been split into a pre-powwow, powwow and post-powwow as usual, but it lasts all weekend. Our detailed schedule is still being tuned, but one thing is clear already. We will be meeting for dinner on Friday, 16th September at the Thir Wine Bar (please find the map at the bottom of this page: http://www.thir.cz/ ). The dinner starts at 6 pm and we will need to be at the main squre at 9 pm for the big show (festival official opening with a torchlight parade, videomapping and many other things worth seeing). The Wine Bar will be our meeting point for the whole of the festival, that is why it has been selected for the dinner on the first night.
As to the dinner on Saturday, 17th September, there are still a few open options being considered, so it would be great, if you could decide on your attendance to the event soon. We will need to make the booking for an exact number of people, so this is quite an important point.
On Sunday, 18th September we will be visiting a cave in a nearby village so you can even consider staying until Monday, 19th.
Those of you who haven't decided on their attendace yet might also have problems with finding accommodation. The festival is really big and attracts thousands of people every year so free rooms are already scarce. This is another reason to hurry up a bit. Of course, there is no pressure, but it would be great to change those couple of "Maybe's" to "Yes's". Those of you who have already confirmed on FB, can just sit back and relax

Finalizing the guest list
Sep 10, 2016
Hello everybody,
sorry for bothering all of you with so many messages about the same thing. However, the guest list is going to be finalized tomorrow at the latest, as we need to confirm our bookings. Of course, you are not going to be banned from the party, if you decide on your participation later next week, but it would be of big help, if you let me know whether you are coming as soon as possible.
Thanks a lot and see you soon!
