Since it's a Windows Mobile phone, you can set up how often do you want to check your emails and even what part of it you want to download; you can download just the titles and if it's an important email, you can go ahead and download the rest of the body. That's useful if you don't want to get a contract for a data plan. And like Sandra said, with a smartphone, you can also view and edit Office and pdf documents. [/quote]

Blackberry is not the only option, albeit possibly the most popular. I suggest you look into costs and possible bundles with your mobile provider. I am very happy with my HTC; the 'hidden' keyboard and the larger screen make it, in my opinion, more user-friendly than other devices.

5 options basically Mar 9, 2009

I might fortget something now, but as far as I see, there are basically 5 major options to choose from (not counting niche products), which you should try out before you buy.

- Symbian (operating system for smartphones mainly manufactured by Nokia and Sony Ericsson, certailny does its job)
- Google (just out now, I am waiting for the first reports)

Palm Centro (or Treo) Mar 9, 2009

I'm a little surprised no one as mentioned Palm. I love my quad-band Centro with Palm OS, full keyboard, good organizer, Documents to Go Software for PDFs, Word, Excel, and PPT. I've heard some of the Treo models running Windows Mobile have had problems though. The 680 also runs Palm OS. Their latest model, the Pre with new WebOS, is not out yet but looks like it's designed to compete with the iphone.
