Last week I found a job posting matching my language combination (DUT-ITA) and I answered. I was contacted from the poster and after agreeing a lower rate then I proposed I got the job, 8 files with daily delivery of each ready file. The first was done and sent, I received confirmation the same day. The second was done, I didn't received confirmation. I noticed then that the agency who had sent me the PO was not the agency who had posted the job offer. I checked the PO's agency on the Blue Board... I noticed then that the agency who had sent me the PO was not the agency who had posted the job offer. I checked the PO's agency on the Blue Board and I saw their feedback is negative. I wrote to my contact person asking her for further information/ressicuration, but she didn't answer. I'm writing her again declaring I will not go on with the project if I'm not receiving any news from her. Final delivery is for next Friday and the job is a big one. What should you do?

Telephone, fax, sms, skype (if available). Ask them why they did not respond. Then think what to do next.

You should also put the agency that posted the job in the Blue Board to warn others.

Ciao Chiara,
Sorry to hear that. I think you are doing the right thing. I would try contacting them again. First I would call your contact, if she doesn't reply, then I would try with the number on the PO. I would also send an email saying that, since they haven't replied to my emails, I am going to stop working on this translation until they get back to me.

She wrote the BB feedback are all old ones (indeed), resulting from an old, bad PM. She works part-time as PM and part-time as freelance for that agency and she is regullary paid. She promised to ask other translators working for her/the agency to post a recent feedback... The job is a big one, next Friday I have to leave for holiday... I think I'll go on with this project, what do you think, am I totally crazy?!?

Chiara,
If you are happy with her answer and feel she is telling you the truth, then take the risk. I would probably finish the job too, since you have already accepted it. By the way, how bad are the reviews on the BB? I think a few low marks are ok, but if it's full of "1" or "2", then it's a different story...
