Dear All,

There have been a few jobs posted recently for patent translators and, as a PhD chemist, this is an obvious area for me to get into. However, they all ask for experience and/or credentials and so I was wondering whether anyone knows of any online courses or could give me some advice as to how to get started in this field.

Surely, Patent translations are a very interesting field.

Trainings about Patent translations, legal aspects, contracts, etc. are in our Training Program schedule.

For Spain, we did not finalize the agreement with the trainers, but you surely will see some trainings organized by ProZ.com and related with those topics soon.

Could you not contact publishers of patent abstracts? The first language-related work I got was writing English abstracts of German patents. Then, in the late 1980's, people with qualifications in chemistry were much sought - I can't think the situation is much different now.
