I was wondering if anyone knows about some type of translator’s pact, covenant or universal rules of conduct?
Do any Translators’ Associations hold their members to a certain ethical code or type of agreement that would mean everyone was playing on a level field?
I’m mainly thinking about how translators interact with other members of their own profession, but it could also include how they deal with clients and agencies.

Can't say I've ever heard of there being a universal code of conduct, but would imagine that all professional associations expect their members to adhere to similar ethical and professional standards.

If you look at the codes of conduct of various translation associations, you'll find they're all more or less the same.

However, your question seems to be how can translators be protected from each other... am I right? Interesting question -- most codes seem to focus more on how translators should not screw clients than on how translators should not screw each other.
