Do you have business cards? What information have you included on them?

I don't have a business card because I depend mostly on internet and email contact, but I am thinking to have one in the near future. However, other translators I know do have business card and they usually include the languages they translate, phone, email and website (if they have one) and maybe a short promotion line.

Marketing issue: the bussiness card matches the website color.

In my business cards Ive included my name, that Im a translator, my languages, phone number, email address and a small design element to show off my creative side (originality in this element also helps to catch the attention and be remembered).:)
It also helps if you are able to create the design yourself - saves money for having to pay other people do it for you and trouble explaining them what is it that you really want.

I am a fan of vistaprint ; you can also upload your own template with pictures & logo & whatever you like, for extra 4.99 euros , which is really cheap. The result is brillant !

I was wary when I got the offer from VistaPrint for 250 business cards free (just $9 S&H), and was looking for the gimmick, but there was none. All-in-all a good deal, and the cards look nice and are easy to design with the templates.
In addition to my languages (English, Spanish, French, Latin) I put Translator & Interpreter. Then I have my contact info, including the URL of my ProZ.com profile.
Since direct contacts are often found by word-of-mouth, business cards are a great tool to open new doors.

If you google the words 'vistaprint' and 'scam' there are some interesting things to read.
Whether or not the company and forms of payment are legitimate or not, you should analyse whether Vistaprint cards are right for your needs - Do you want a thin kind of card with 'get free cards from vistaprint' printed on the back of a card you use to try to get clients for professional services?

Using vistaprint for design and printing is the equivalent of someone who doesn't know about translation ordering from a cheap translation agency found on the internet, based on the thought that 'it must be good cos it's cheap and oh so fast, and they have a zillion languages listed, so they must know what they are doing.'
Better to pay a freelance professional designer and printer to portray exactly the image you want for your business.

I too am a great fan of Vistaprint, and I have just recently begun to use their fairly inexpensive, but very nice, calendars as small gifts for more regular and preferred clients. You can't go wrong with 250 free cards (pay postage and handling), even if you do make a mistake in what you include the first time round!! Go for it, give them away, give them to friends and family. On day your boat will come home.
I believe ProZ.com and Vistaprint.com are a perfect match. Here's to the continuing success of both!!

I have a double-sided business card, so one side is printed in French and the other in English. Each side has the same design but uses a different colour scheme and the colours are the same as those used on my website.

You can get vistaprint to leave the back blank, but it'll cost you (10 euros, I think). For my 'real' business cards I just went to a local print shop and paid to get cards made, they look better than the Vistaprint ones in the end anyway.

Hi,
I also have a double-sided BC, but it's not along the bilingual lines mentioned above.
The front side includes my logo, tagline, name, language pair, and contact data.
The back side has two columns, one listing my specialisations, and the other listing main text types I can do.

Like many others here, I chose Vistaprint. My cards are double-sided and do not have any Vistaprint advertising on the back (I vaguely remember having to pay slightly more for this but unsure). Instead, I have the title repeated from the front and my ProZ profile link. I must admit, it took me a couple of failed attempts to get them to look just how I wanted.

I received a package from Amazon (UK) today which included flyers for Vista. This was a good reminder that I need to order some more - no problem with the old business cards, I have just recently changed address. I agree with Steven: if you use the free-250-card option they put their website on the back of your cards, so it's up to you to decide if you're willing to have that line showing on the back of your cards. Yet if you choose the regular option (you pay an X amount for an X quanity of cards), their link shouldn't be added.
I must say the card doesn't look cheap at all, the only thing that I might say looks different is that it's a tad smaller than normal business cards, but just a bit.... I received a sample pack from them and the cards are really cute, lots of templates and fonts.
