1) Where?
The pre-conference powwow will take place at
“U Sádlů”, a medieval restaurant close to the historic centre of the city. Go to their
website, to find out more (there’s also an English version of the site). The address of the pub is Klimentská 2, Prague 1.
2) When?
This informal gathering before the conference will be held on Friday, October 1, from 6 pm. Dinner will be served at 7 pm, so please make sure that you arrive on time.
3) What’s the dress code?
You are free to wear whatever you feel comfortable in.
4) What will be served?
The restaurant will prepare a special dish for us. It will be a combination of typical old-Bohemian dishes. I think this will the best way to avoid waiting dozens of minutes for your meal – imagine the chaos in the kitchen when fifty guests order a different dish each.
The dish is called
“Royal platter”:
Královská mísa:
¼ kachny, vepřové, uzené, moravské zelí a listový špenát, variace knedlíků
Royal platter:
¼ of duck, pork, and smoked pork, Moravian cabbage and leaf spinach, assortment of dumplings
Königliche Platte:
¼ Bratente, Schweinefleisch, geräuchertes Fleisch, mährisches Sauerkraut und Blattspinat, Auswahl an böhmischen Knödeln
(I know, I know, it’s going to be what we call a “dietary mistake”, but how many times in a year do you attend a powwow in Prague? And besides, nobody will force you to have a dessert – for example the delicious apple strudel with vanilla sauce and whipped cream :-)
5) How to get there?
By taxi: Tell the taxi driver to take you to “restaurace U Sádlů, Klimentská 2” (U Sádlů Restaurant, Klimentská street 2).
By tram: Take the 5, 8 or 26 and get off at “Revoluční”. Then follow the tram for some hundred meters and take the first street to the right. It is Klimentská street. The restaurant is on the right side.
By metro: Take the yellow line and get off at “Náměstí Republiky”. There are two exits from the metro station. Watch the signs after you get off the train and use the exit that will take you to Palladium Shopping Centre (the other one will take you to Masarykovo Railway Station). Then follow the tram all the way to Klimentská street (see above, By tram).
There are some pictures in the
conference gallery.
Here's a
link to a map.
You will also find a detailed description and a map in your conference folders.
6) What to take with you?
The powwow will be an excellent opportunity to make contacts and network. Don’t forget to take your visit cards with you!
